Products arrive either in an insulated box.
We use two different products, chilltainers and woolcool. Both work super well and can go in your curb-side recycling bins.
When your product arrives we suggest keeping in the fridge what you will eat in the next few days and popping the rest in the freezer to enjoy at your leisure.
Each cut of meat will be individually packaged in home compostable packaging for your convenience. Meat that has a bone (Merino rack etc) will be in plastic as the bone may pierce the compostable packaging. We are working on a solution with our supplier and hope to have all of our products in home compostable packaging Click here to find out more about our packaging.
Where possible all product is shipped fresh.

We recommend that you store this product in the freezer and grab it out as you need.

Unfortunately as we are shipping a perishable product we cannot be sure that our products will arrive to you in time using our Rural Delivery or Non Urban Courier option. The last thing we want is it to arrive to you spoiled. If you work in an urban area you could see if you could get it shipped there, or to a friend or family member?
We will keep trying to come up with a solution but until then, if we do receive any orders to an RD address, we will have to get in touch with you and provide you with a refund.

All of our meat is cut fresh and vacuum packed to keep the freshness locked in tight.
Please note that for some bone in product there can be an unpleasent smell when opening the bag. There is nothing to be worried about here all you need to do is remove the product from the bag, dispose of the bag and leave the meat to sit for 10 minutes and you will find the smell will disappear.
+
All orders will receive a tracking link with your shipment and updates as it travel to you. Please note these emails are activated when your order is collected from us by the courier, which is usually after 4pm.

Allow 3 hours from Hanmer Springs via Jacks Pass - do not take Jollies Pass! It is unmaintained and could be dangerous.
And 2 hours from Blenheim (google maps often advises 5 hours and this is not true. We are working hard to get this changed).

Due to the unique nature of premises, the 2 bedroom apartment is the only accommodation available for self catering. Unless you are booking the 2 bedroom apartment, then selecting a cuisine package is essential. There are no nearby cafes or restaurants.
+
There is very limited reception once you leave Hanmer Springs and State Highway 1. We do have high speed fibre internet.

🌸 Spring - Our farming calendar runs a little later than usual - and that's intentional. We time things so that our calves and lambs are born in the best possible weather. Long days and warm sun are ideal, which is why lambing begins around mid-October.
This helps us avoid the risk of late snow flurries here in the high country - which can be a little chilly on newborn feet!
So, our true spring season, when lambs and calves are happily frolicking, runs from late October through to mid-December.
🐑 Please note: During October and early November, farm tours may be limited in where we can take you. We don't conduct "lambing beats" to give our sheep complete privacy during this time, ensuring they're not separated from their babies.
☀️ Summer - Peak Season (January to late March) This is our busiest and sunniest time of year. The sun is hot, the hills are often crisp, and the river is the place to be.
Farm tours are in full swing, and a trip to The George Hut, followed by lunch under the willow trees, is always a guest favourite.
🍂 Autumn - From April through to the end of June, the landscape transforms with golden and crimson leaves gently falling to the ground. It's a peaceful season, cool enough to enjoy our outdoor wood-fired hot tubs, and perfect for roasting marshmallows by the fire pit.
❄️ Winter - A photographer's dream (July to September) Winter brings snow-covered peaks, low golden sunlight, and plenty of dramatic skies. It's a dream for landscape and astro photographers, with stunning golden hours and crystal-clear night skies.
